Increased dependence on data is driving global datasphere growth at an unprecedented rate. From 2009 to 2019, the total world data increased from .9 zettabytes (ZB) to 20. By 2025, it will surge to 175 ZBs.
With the the increasing utility of data, active archiving has seen a meteoric rise to 6O% of the storage market. Organizations now have a choice - delete an increasing percentage of data generated or add capacity.

Folio Photonics produces a multi-terabyte, multilayer fluorescent optical disc with a decades long shelf-life, small environmental footprint, and low total cost of ownership.
Our storage medium is based on a highly scalable multilayer film, manufactured in a continuous roll-to-roll process. The resulting discs are durable, cost-competitve, and consist of dozens of layers of writable capacity.

Folio Photonics was founded in 2012 as a spin-off from the Case Western Reserve University Center for Layered Polymeric Systems, a National Science Foundation funded Science and Technology Center. The company is currently based in Solon, OH with a team of 14 working to further advance how the world archives data.
