Signal Processing Engineer – Entry Level

Folio Photonics is developing next-generation multilayer optical storage technology designed to dramatically increase the capacity and durability of data storage systems.

We are seeking entry-level engineers interested in working on challenging problems involving signal processing, detection algorithms, and high-density data storage systems.

This role focuses on developing the data channel and signal detection pipeline for an optical storage system.

Responsibilities

• Develop signal processing algorithms for optical data detection
• Model and simulate communication channels and noise sources
• Implement detection algorithms and data recovery pipelines
• Develop and test DSP algorithms in MATLAB, Python, or C/C++
• Work closely with hardware, optics, and firmware engineers

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Coursework in one or more of the following:
• Digital Signal Processing

• Digital Communications

• Information Theory

• Error Correction Coding

• Detection and Estimation

Preferred Skills

• MATLAB or Python modeling
• C/C++ programming
• knowledge of DSP pipelines
• experience with FPGA or embedded systems
